چکیده
Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire studied anatomy and congenital abnormalities in humans [2] and other animals in nineteenth century France. Under the tutelage of his father, Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, Isidore compiled and built on his father's studies of individuals with developmental malformations, then called monstrosities. In 1832, Isidore published Histoire générale et particulière des anomalies de l'organisation chez l'homme et les animaux (General and Particular History of Structural Monstrosities in Man and Animals), in which he defined the term teratology [3] as the study of birth defects [4] and deformities. Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire helped establish teratology [3] as a branch of scientific study.

This study was performed to determine the optimum level of soybean meal diets for two banded sea bream for growth performance, nutrient utilization, body composition and serum biochemistry. Two banded seabream were fed five experimental diets which were formulated replace fish meal by soybean meal at 0, 20, 30, 40 and 50%. Up to 40% of dietary fish meal was successfully replaced with no growth...

متن کامل[On acclimatization: Boudin and medical geography].
In order to understand the medical geography studies by Boudin, we analyze the differences that set him apart from the acclimatization theories defended during that same historical period by Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. Each one of them represents a paradigmatic position in relation to the problem of acclimatization. To understand the difference between these models, we analyze the concept o...
متن کاملThe contribution of new findings and ideas to the old principles of teratology.
Although the last generally accepted concept of principles of teratology was issued more than 30 years ago, the cause of less than 50% of all congenital anomalies is known and no substantial change in their incidence has been observed worldwide. In the meantime, powerful techniques of molecular biology as well as many sophisticated preventive measures have been introduced with marginal effects ...
